Turkey, EU to hold political consultations

By Trend
Turkey and the EU will hold political consultations, the Turkish Foreign Ministry told Trend March 7.
Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Sedat Onal and EU Political Director Helga Schmid will take part in the political consultations to be held in Brussels March 7.
“The parties will discuss the development of bilateral relations between Turkey and the EU,” the ministry said.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said earlier that Turkey hopes to strengthen its relations with the EU.
The Association Agreement between the EU and Turkey was signed in 1963. Ankara filed an application for EU membership in 1987, but accession negotiations began only in 2005.
