The Turkmen Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting with Christian Berger, the head of the EU delegation to Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara), Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The parties discussed issues related to the opening of the EU office in Turkmenistan in the near future, the report said. At the meeting, the sides highlighted the positive development of cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian fields.

EU technical assistance projects are being implemented in Turkmenistan, in particular, the effectiveness of Erasmus Mundus (programme funded by the European Commission, aims are to encourage mobility (long-term and short-term) of students and staff), a student exchange program, was mentioned.

Besides, the EU and Turkmenistan are committed to implementing a project designed to bring Turkmen hydrocarbon energy carriers to European markets. The negotiations have been underway since 2011.

The project of laying a 300-kilometer gas pipeline along the bottom of the Caspian Sea to the shores of Azerbaijan is optimal for the delivery of Turkmen gas to the European market. Further, the Turkmen gas can be delivered to Turkey, which borders with European countries.
