Iran calls for joint investments with ECO countries

Iran has suggested the development of joint industrial investments and joint production between the ECO (Economic Cooperation Organization) members, especially in the field of vehicles.

During the 25th Meeting of the ECO Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representative from Iran Chamber of Commerce Industries Mines and Agriculture, Mohammad-Reza Karbasi, has criticized the unilateral US sanctions and suggested the development of joint investment and joint production that can be put on ECO agenda, Trend reports via Donya –e –Eghtesad.

The ICCIMA deputy head for international affairs, Mohammad-Reza Karbasi, has referred to potential in these fields and suggested for further cooperation among ECO member countries.

"So far the ECO members have not fully used all the capacities, especially in tourism, oil and gas", he insisted.

The Iranian official requested all the members to have active role in these events, by acknowledging the upcoming International ECO Energy Conference and Iran Health International Fair.

The 25th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Economic Cooperation Organization has taken place at the International Trade Center (ITC), in Tashkent.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov, has noted the necessity for cooperation.

"Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce is ready to cooperate with ECO members to draft the road map for tourism development," he said.

Meanwhile, the Afghanistan representative, Azarakhsh Hafizi asked for implementation of special tariffs and support of businessmen regarding to foreign currency rate fluctuation.

The ECO meeting, was attended by representatives of the chambers of commerce and industry of the organization’s member states – Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
