Yildirim: Turkey, Russia, Iran managed to prevent crisis in Syria's Idlib
By Trend
Turkey, Russia and Iran managed to prevent a crisis in Syria's Idlib, Turkish Parliament Speaker Binali Yildirim said on Oct. 9, Turkish media reported.
Yildirim stressed that thanks to the efforts of these three countries, a new flow of Syrian refugees was prevented.
The speaker also underlined that counter-terrorism commitments should not be the burden of a few countries only.
"All countries must actively fight against terrorism and not distinguish between terrorists," Yildirim said.
The speaker stressed that, presently, terrorism is a threat to all countries, including Turkey, which for many years has been actively fighting the PKK.
On September 15 in Sochi, Russian and Turkish leaders - Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to create by October 15 a demilitarized zone along the contact line of the armed opposition and government troops in the Syrian province of Idlib.
The defense ministers of the two countries signed a memorandum on stabilizing the situation in the Idlib zone of de-escalation.
