Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan to change state borders

Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan held a regular meeting of the working groups of the joint Uzbek-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the state border in Turkmenabad, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.

The parties discussed the results of previously completed joint field topographic and geodetic works at selected sections of the Uzbek-Turkmen state border, and the timing of further field work was agreed.

“During the meeting, the results of the previously performed joint field topographic and geodetic works at selected sections of the Uzbek-Turkmen state border were reviewed, and the timing of further field work was agreed,” the statement said.

The meeting of the group was held on October 2-8, 2018.

The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan emphasizes that the meeting was held in an atmosphere of friendship and mutual understanding, a protocol was signed following it.

The total length of the Uzbek-Turkmen state border is 1,621 km.

Last such meeting was held on June 25-July 1, 2018 in Turkmenistan.

Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were established on February 7, 1993.
