Uzbekistan to receive Japanese machinery worth $7.3 mln for free

Japan will donate to Uzbekistan a lot of road construction equipment worth 800 million Japanese yens or about $7.3 million.
This is provided for by exchange notes, which were signed by representatives of Uzbekistan and Japan in Tashkent on May 30.
“Within the framework of the grant project, Uzbekistan will receive the equipment of Japanese company Sakai Heavy Industries Ltd. It will be used for road repairs in the countryside, in villages of the Syrdarya, Jizzakh and Khorezm regions, as well as in Karakalpakstan. In particular, a recycler and various types of road rollers, as well as spare parts for them, will be supplied to Uzbekistan,” the Japanese embassy in Uzbekistan said.
In early March this year, Uzbekistan also acquired over 100 units of various Chinese-made equipment. This decision was caused by the growing need for construction and repair work on roads and the strengthening of the material and technical base of organizations and enterprises that are part of a single technological complex of road construction.
The equipment was purchased from Chinese company Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co Ltd, which co-founded the UzXCMG enterprise in Khorezm. This will allow Uzbekistan to further establish a wide network of repair bases in the country and avoid unnecessary costs for maintenance.
In addition, up to the middle of this year it is planned to purchase about 100 units of road-repair and road-building machinery.
