By Trend
A book by American political scientist and specialist on Central Asia Frederick Starr titled ‘The New Image of Uzbekistan’ was published in the United States, the Uzbek portal ‘Narodnoye Slovo’ [People’s Speech] said on May 15.
Professor Starr, the founder and chairman of the Institute of Central Asia and the Caucasus under the Council of American Foreign Policy, reviewed the latest history of Uzbekistan in his new work. He paid particular attention to the events of 2017, which he considers a period of dynamic development in the country.
Starr noted that many foreign experts are astonished with the country's intensive development, progress in the social, economic, legal and international spheres, but not everyone truly understands their meaning.
In the book, the professor sought to present the events objectively and avoid assessments. He managed to study hundreds of normative documents, orders and presidential decrees, as well as to collect expert comments from all around the world. The work is timed to coincide with the visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States.
During the May 15-17 visit to the USA, Shavkat Mirziyoyev will meet with US President Donald Trump. The parties are planning to sign the ‘Uzbekistan and the United States of America: the Beginning of a New Era of Strategic Partnership’ joint statement, as well as more than 40 other documents on bilateral cooperation.
