Iran, Germany sign MoU on nuclear safety

By Trend

Iran and Germany signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Feb. 17 to cooperate in the field of nuclear safety, the state-run IRINN TV reported.

The deal was signed between Germany’s GRS Company and Iran's Nuclear Safety System Center in Tehran during a ceremony attended by German ambassador to Tehran, Michael Klor-Berchtold.

Under the deal, the German side will help Iran’s Nuclear Safety System Center to improve its capabilities.

The MoU envisages cooperation in various fields, including staff training and exchanging experience for establishing a nuclear safety center.

Iran has held talks with various countries to cooperate in nuclear safety after it reached the nuclear deal with world powers, which came into force in January 2016.

Some European countries, including Norway, as well as Japan have already announced their readiness to help Iran with nuclear safety.

The Iranian nuclear safety body has started some cooperation with the EU and Switzerland in this regard as well.
