Huge number of agriculture projects to be realized in Uzbekistan

More than 21,600 farms in Uzbekistan will realize about 23,000 projects in 2018.
The projects stipulate planting of gardens on 7,400 hectares and vineyards - 4,300 hectares, construction of greenhouses - 844 hectares, according to the Council of farmers, private farms and owners of homestead lands of Uzbekistan.
It is planned to implement 520 projects in the field of processing of fruit and vegetable, meat and dairy products, 785 projects - grain processing and bread production, 3,900procets - livestock and poultry , 2,300 projects- fish farming and beekeeping, 2,100 projects- sheep breeding, goat breeding, rabbit breeding, 170 projects - breeding of horses and turkeys, 8,000 projects- service maintenance.
In 2017, more than 75,000 farms on the basis of modern technologies mastered the production of finished products.
The country’s horticulture sub-sector is an especially important source of all-season employment in rural areas and provides a significant number of jobs for women. Moreover, horticultural crops generate significantly higher revenues for farmers than wheat and cotton. Fruit and vegetable production accounts for as much as 50 percent of the value of crop output and over 35 percent of agriculture export value.
In 2016, agriculture accounted for 17 percent of gross domestic product, 15 percent of export revenues, and over one-third of employment.
Growth in agricultural production in 2017 amounted to 1.9 percent compared to 2016. In 2017, the total volume of agriculture, forestry and fishery products (services) was 69.504 trillion soums, or 102 percent to the corresponding period of 2016.
