Tajikistan bans imports of non-Halal meat products
By Trend
The Tajik State Service of Veterinary Control has banned imports of non-Halal meat products, Tajik media reported.
From now on, only accredited foreign suppliers will be able to import meat products to Tajikistan. Before issuing such accreditation, Tajik experts will personally visit facilities abroad and check the quality and safety of the products.
In addition, the products must have the Halal label (food prepared according to Islamic law, free from pork products, alcohol and certain other ingredients).
Meat products are imported to the Tajik market mainly from India and Russia, with a small part coming from Turkey and Kazakhstan.
