Uzbekistan supports the peaceful foreign policy of Turkmenistan, Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov said, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement on December 11.

Kamilov made the remarks at the international conference "Neutrality Policy and Preventive Diplomacy in International Relations: Experience and the Role of Turkmenistan" in Ashgabat on December 11.

Addressing the event, the minister on behalf of the delegation of Uzbekistan congratulated the Turkmen side on the national holiday - the 22nd anniversary of the proclamation of Turkmenistan's neutrality.

"The international recognition of the neutrality status of Turkmenistan was an event that became one of the turning points, largely predetermining the main stages of state construction and the priorities of the country's foreign policy," Kamilov said.

A milestone of in the bilateral relations was the state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkmenistan in March this year, which resulted in the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between the two countries that gave a powerful impetus to revealing new potentials for bilateral cooperation.

Later, the Uzbek delegation took part in the international conference "The UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia: 10 Years of Cooperation with Central Asia for the Peace and Prosperity of the Region", held in the Turkmen capital.
