Investors from Germany and Holland intend to invest in the creation of solar power plants in the South Kazakhstan region.

Akim of the South Kazakhstan region Zhanseit Tuimebayev, adressing a meeting with the investors, spoke about the economic potential of the region and advantages offered to investors, the press service of the region reports.

"For a region with a population of about three million people, this project is very desirable and effective. Some 65 percent of the electricity we receive from outside. The need of the inhabitants of the region in summer is 350-370 MW, and in winter 450-480 MW. That's why we need to implement energy projects. The climate of our region is ideal for the production of solar power, "said Tuimebayev.

In turn, foreign entrepreneurs noted that they intend to build two solar power plants and an asphalt plant in the Maktaaral district.

General Director of KADI LLP Murat Davrasov noted that the German company NwComp Solar GmbH, which implemented a number of projects in Kazakhstan, will invest 7 million euros in the construction of a solar power plant.

A 4.8 MW power plant will be built on the territory of the Zhetysay dustbin. Construction work is scheduled to start this November.

The investor of the second project was the Dutch company VTK Invests. For today, within the framework of this project, a bilateral memorandum on the construction of a solar power station with a capacity of 100 MW has been signed, appropriate work is underway to allocate 300 hectares of land. The cost of the project is 150 million euros. Currently, the company is implementing the same project in the Akmola region.
