Active work is underway in Turkmenistan on the development and research of new directions in the gas and chemical industry, according to the report by Chairman of the Turkmengaz State Concern Ashirguli Begliyev read at the conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan 2016" (Ashgabat).
It is planned to build facilities for production of linear low density polyethylene from natural gas, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride and other chemical products in the Balkan region of Turkmenistan as well as ethanolamine, ethylene glycol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the country’s Dashoguz province, and also a plant for production of synthetic liquid fuel (GTL) from natural gas near Ashgabat.
The plans for the nearest future related to the gas and chemical industry in Turkmenistan include complex processing of hydrocarbon gases, ensuring production of various advanced chemical products with high added value and high export potential – polymeric materials, synthetic fibers, large volume organic chemicals, synthetic detergents, superficially active substances.
The complex for production of polyethylene and polypropylene with an ethane cracker unit is already being built in the town of Kiyanly in the Balkan province of Turkmenistan and a plant for production of gasoline (GTG) is being built in Ovadan-Depe town of the country’s Akhal province.
Their construction is being carried out by a consortium of Japanese and South Korean companies. The enterprises must be commissioned in 2018 and 2019, respectively.
