Boeing, Iran Air finalize aircraft deal
Islamic Republic’s flag carrier, Iran Air, has announced it has finalized a contract with, Boeing, the US giant aircraft manufacturer, to purchase 80 Boeing passenger planes, IRNA news agency reported.
According to the report, the head of Iran Air, Farhad Parvaresh, has said that the contract envisages purchasing 50 Boeing 737 aircraft and 30 Boeing 777 planes.
He added that the aircraft will be handed over to Iran over a period of 10 years.
The report added that the US government has “approved” the deal.
Fletcher Barkdull, Boeing’s regional sales director, told IRNA that the $16.6 billion deal was inked after receiving the US government’s approval.
According to the report, Iranian Transportation Minister Abbas Akhoundi participated in the ceremony for inking the contract.
Iran had signed a basic plane purchase agreement with Boeing earlier this year.
