The large-scale operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were launched in the Turkish southeastern Diyarbakir province, the Turkish Haber7 newspaper reported on August 31.

According to the newspaper, a curfew was declared in 13 villages of the province as part of the operation.

PKK members were detained as part of the operation, the message said.

The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
