Syrians attend Iranian parliament’s security meeting

By Trend
A high-ranking Syrian official has attended a security meeting of the Iranian Parliament.
Hussain Raqib al- Hussain, deputy head of Syria’s Committee on
National Expediency, accompanied Iranian MPs in the day’s meeting
of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy
Committee, Tasnim news agency reported August 21.
Tehran has stood behind the Syrian government since civil unrest
broke out in the Arab country in 2011, which took a new turn as the
Islamic State (aka IS, ISIS, ISIL, Daesh) took swaths of land in
the country.
Iran stresses that it does not partake in on-ground military
operations in Syria, but backs President Bashar al-Assad forces
with military consultation.
Recently, Iran opened one of its airbases to Russian bombers which
would launch air raids on terrorists in Syria.
