Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in his upcoming trip to Latin America will go over cooperation in oil, an Iranian diplomat has said.

Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi said the minister will also pursue the improvement of economic ties between Iran and Latin American countries under the Iran nuclear deal, SHANA news agency reported August17.

Zarif is scheduled to depart for Latin America Aug. 21. He will visit Cuba, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, and Venezuela in succession.

Underlining their membership in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Takht-Ravanchi said Iran and the destination states of Zarif’s trip will benefit greatly in politics by strengthening their ties.

Venezuela’s Oil Minister Delcy Rodríguez and Oil Minister Eulogio Del Pino visited Tehran Aug. 15 to invite Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to the NAM’s upcoming summit as Venezuela is the rotating chair of the event.
