The latest developments, and the curent situation in the South Caucasus region, will be discussed during Andris Piebalgs, the European Union Energy Commissioner`s, visit to Baku in November, the EU envoy to Azerbaijan, Alan Waddams, said.
"The goal of the visit is to study the situation that has emerged," Waddams told a local TV channel. "He will further head to the countries that we consider being part of the Southern Corridor - Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. But I can say, with full confidence, that Azerbaijan is the key state for the EU."
Waddams noted that Brussels would host a meeting of energy ministers in late November. The event was initially scheduled in Baku, but after a tide of unrest in neighboring Georgia, it was decided on the Azeri government`s proposal to hold the meeting elsewhere.
The EU official reminded reporters that a summit will take place in the Belgian capital on November 27, to be followed by meetings the following day. After the summit, the so-called "Baku process," which envisions regular discussions on regional and security issues at the level of energy ministers, will begin.
