Azerbaijan's gas output to increase this year - source
Over 27.5 billion cubic meters of gas is expected to be extracted in Azerbaijan in 2013 compared to about 26.9 billion cubic meters in 2012, a source in the oil and gas market told Trend news agency on Tuesday.
The source said that it is predicted that 9.3 billion cubic meters of gas are planned to be extracted from the Shah Deniz gas condensate field compared to 7.8 billion in 2012. Previously, the peak production volume at the Shah Deniz field during the first stage was projected at 8.6 billion cubic meters per year, but this figure was later increased.
Associated gas production will continue from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of fields next year. It is planned to produce 11.5 billion cubic meters in 2013 compared to about 12.2 billion cubic meters in 2012. Some gas volume is transferred to Azerbaijan free of charge.
Around 6.75 billion cubic meters of gas of the total volume of gas production will fall to SOCAR compared to 6.89 billion in 2012.
