Turkey issues license to SOCAR Gaz Ticareti for gas distribution

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Turkey (EPDK) has issued a license to SOCAR Gaz Ticareti A.Ş for gas distribution in the country, Trend news agency reported on Monday referring to Turkish newspaper Resmi Gazete.

Earlier, in November 2012 SOCAR Turkey Energy jointly with the Turkish gas company Çığ Enerji established the company SOCAR Gaz Ticareti A.Ş for gas distribution on the domestic market of Turkey.

The license is granted for a period of 30 years. The company will distribute 700-800 million cubic meters of gas imported into Turkey from Azerbaijan.

SOCAR Turkey Energy will start importing 1.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Azerbaijan from Jan.1, 2013, SOCAR Turkey Energy head, and board member of the Petkim petrochemical complex Kenan Yavuz said earlier.

According to Yavuz, 400-500 million cubic meters of imported gas will be used for the production in the Petkim complex, while the rest part of the gas will be sold on Turkey's domestic market.
