President: BP with great responsibility reacts to stabilization of oil production in Azerbaijan

At a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev BP Chief Executive Officer Robert Dudley announced the company's plans for the coming years, Trend news agency reported.

Speaking at the ceremony of the National Olympic Committee, which summed up results of the 2012 year, President Ilham Aliyev made a statement regarding BP.

"I am very pleased that stabilization period has begun in the oil sector. At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers a while ago, I openly expressed my views on this issue so that to make the public aware of that. In general, a turning point should have been reached on this issue. I am very pleased that our key partner - BP company has reacted to these views and remarks with great responsibility," President Aliyev underlined.

He expressed satisfaction with the fact that issues of the stabilization of oil production are on the top.

"This shows that our cooperation is really built on strong foundations. Starting next year, the main sector of our economy - oil industry will be stabilized. Subsequently, stable oil production will be ensured for many years," Aliyev said.

President Aliyev said that following his remarks on BP, external forces disliking Azerbaijan, the Armenian lobby, and, unfortunately, internal opposition, which is on the same side with them, tried to over-stress this issue.

"As if, there is a serious problem in oil industry in Azerbaijan. As if Azerbaijan, SOCAR and its partners have some problems. There can be problems. But our advantage is that these problems are revealed, and we timely express our thoughts. Our partners with great interest and with great responsibility reacted to our remarks," the president said.

Aliyev said the forces disliking Azerbaijan, traitors, internal opposition, and the people, who were happy because Azerbaijani athletes have failed to win gold medals in the early days of the Olympic Games in London, and those, who jointly with Armenians were disappointed with the results of games, should not to be glad.

"Let the Armenian lobby, external forces that dislike us and do not accept the successful development of Azerbaijan, not to be glad," Ilham Aliyev noted.
