Turkey offers partners to separate price of oil and gas
Turkey will appeal to partner countries on the energy market to separate oil and gas prices, Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz told journalists on Wednesday, TRT Haber reported.
"If oil and gas exploration and production are conducted on different formulas and the cost of these processes is not the same, why are gas prices still dependent on oil prices?," he said.
Yildiz said he will make this proposal to countries exporting gas to Turkey.
According to the Turkish State Pipeline Company Botas, Turkey imported 39.7 billion cubic meters of gas in 2011.
Russia ranks first among the gas exporters to Turkey. The country is followed by Iran and Azerbaijan.
