Azerbaijani gymnast advances to finals at FIG event in Baku
Azerbaijani gymnast Marina Durunda has advanced to the finals in the ribbon exercises at the FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku.
Durunda scored 18.500, ranking fifth during the qualification event, and advanced to the finals.
Thus, she will take part in two finals performing with ball and ribbon July 24.
Durunda scored 17.000 points and ranked 13th in club exercises.
Another Azerbaijani athlete Zhala Piriyeva scored 17.350 in ribbon exercises, ranking 14th, and 16.750 points in club exercises, ranking 18th during the qualification event.
The FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics will last until July 24, giving a unique opportunity to watch the performances of eminent gymnasts from 17 countries two weeks prior to the Rio Olympics.
Twenty-six gymnasts and nine teams will compete for medals in the all-around on the first two days of competitions. Apparatus finals will be held on the event’s last day.
A traditional Gala will be held on July 24 as part of the FIG World Cup Final in Rhythmic Gymnastics in Baku.
