The 200th anniversary of independence of the Republic of Argentina was marked in Baku on July 11.

Officials, MPs, foreign ambassadors to Azerbaijan and public members attended the event, Azertac reported.

Argentinean Ambassador Carlos Dante Riva, addressing the event, informed about his country's achievements in various fields after gaining independence.

He has also touched upon strong partnership between Azerbaijan and Argentina, saying that his country has become one of the main economic partners of Azerbaijan in recent years.

Speaking about relations in the field of agriculture, Dante Riva stressed great potential for further expansion of cooperation between the two countries.

Azerbaijani Deputy Minister of Economy Sahil Babayev, for his part, spoke of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Argentina.

He assessed economic relations between the two states as dynamically developing, emphasizing the importance of mutual visits in development of bilateral relations.

The deputy minister also expressed his hope in rapidly developing of further relations between the two countries.

Recently, the Chamber of Deputies of the Argentine National Congress has adopted a resolution on the establishment of the inter-parliamentary friendship group with Azerbaijan.

The two countries cooperate successfully in the fields of ICT and agriculture. Argentina's high-technologies company INVAP, engaged in the construction and delivery of complex equipment, does business with Azerbaijan’s space industry.

The sides are also interested in the joint development of agriculture in both countries. Argentina has recently achieved positive results in agriculture with the aid of modern technologies and intends to share this experience with Azerbaijan.
