Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul on May 23, Azertac reports.
They hailed the successful development of the friendly and fraternal ties between the two countries in political, economic and other fields.
The presidents highlighted the importance of regular high-level reciprocal visits and meetings in terms of the strengthening of the bilateral relations.
They noted that the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul contributed to the expansion of international cooperation.
The presidents also exchanged views on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and discussed development of the bilateral ties.
Co-organized by Turkey and the UN, the first ever Summit brought together a total of more than 5,000 delegates including up to 60 UN member states' heads of state and government, officials of the crisis-affected countries, representatives of international organizations, NGOs and the private sector.
The purpose of the summit is to set a forward-looking agenda for humanitarian action to collectively address future humanitarian challenges. The aim is to build a more inclusive and diverse humanitarian system committed to humanitarian principles.
