"TurAz Falcon – 2015" exercises underway
Turkish and Azerbaijani Air Forces have carried out practical firing exercises within the frame of the joint tactical exercises of "TurAz Falcon - 2015".
According to the scenario, air defenses have found the conditional offender of the airspace, conveyed the message about the intruder to the combat supervision center and tracked air targets, the Defense Ministry reported.
On the main stage of the exercises imitation targets of the conditional offender was destroyed via the antiaircraft missile systems S-125.
The Ministry praised the skills, combat readiness and interaction of personnel involved in the exercises.
The Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces hold joint tactical exercises entitled "TurAz Qartali -2015" as part of an annual military plan between the two countries.
The exercise is reported to involve more than 30 aircrafts including "MiQ-29", "F-16" Fighting Falcon, "Su-25" and "F-4E" bomber.
Baku and Ankara enjoy strategic relations in many fields, including the military. Military cooperation between these two neighboring nations dates back to 1992 when they signed an agreement on military education. Since then, the Azerbaijani and Turkish governments have been closely cooperating in both defense and security fields.
In December 2010, both countries signed a range of treaties provisioning for military assistance should any of the party be attacked by third party.
Based on numerous agreements on joint military exercises as part of bilateral progressive efforts towards military cooperation, the Azerbaijani and Turkish armed forces have hold regular drills, featuring various tactical and combat tasks so far.
