Korean Ambassador to Azerbaijan Choi Suk-in has visited Lankaran region of the country, AzerTac state news agency reported.

First Deputy Head of the Lankaran District Executive Authority Ilgar Dadashov highlighted the region's geographical position, population's employment, socio-economic development, and tourism potential.

The Korean ambassador said he was happy to visit Lankaran.

The two also discussed opportunities for establishing sistership relations between Lankaran and Korean cities.

Famous by its ancient history and rich culture, Lankaran is a perfect place to visit during the summer. Original architecture and a wonderful climate are the landmarks of this city. The region is a large-scale producer of citrus fruit and tea-growing, due to the area’s sub-tropical location.

Moreover, the natural pearls of Azerbaijan, Hirkan National Park and Gizilagac State Natural Reserve are located here.

Lankaran is inhabited by the Talish, who preserved their ancient traditions and customs until now. Copperware, pottery and sewing traditions are of high interest in the city.

This site of Azerbaijan is also filled with historical attractions. Lankaran Fortress is one of such places. Built in the 18th century, it was one of the most important fortifications in the territory.

The house of Mirakhmad Khan, located in the heart of the city is another must see place in Lankaran. This palace was built in 1913 by French architects, but has clear Azerbaijani features in its architecture.

There are many other sites of interest in Lankaran. Overall, this region is a place of relaxation with its picturesque countryside.
