Azerbaijani peacekeepers leave for Afghanistan

Another military contingent of Azerbaijani peacekeepers has left for Afghanistan, the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan reported on July 8.
A group of 40 Azerbaijani soldiers, who are serving under the NATO-led “Resolute Support” noncombatant mission launched in Afghanistan from January 2015, has left for Afghanistan on a rotating basis.
The peacekeeping contingent of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces has been serving under the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan since November 20, 2002.
Currently, 94 Azerbaijani servicemen, 2 medical officers and 2 engineers are participating in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.
