Azerbaijan, Columbia eye judicial cooperation prospects

Farhad Abdullayev, Chairman of Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court has met Assad Jose Gater, Charge d`Affaires of the Colombian Embassy to discuss prospects for cooperation between the two countries` justice authorities.

Abdullayev highlighted the activity of the Constitutional Court, saying it was a full-member of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice.

He said the Constitutional Court attached great importance to international legal cooperation.

He also provided an insight into the judicial reforms carried out in Azerbaijan over the last years.

Abdullayev stressed the importance of developing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Columbia in all fields, especially in judicial sphere.

He praised the Columbian Senate`s resolution recognizing the Khojaly genocide as “a fair legal assessment of the Armenian aggressors` criminal acts that were in breach of norms of international law”.

Mr Jose Gater stressed the importance of cooperation between the constitutional courts of Azerbaijan and Columbia.

The diplomat highlighted the activity of his country`s Constitutional Court, AzerTac state news agency reported.
