Greece, Azerbaijan may expand customs co-op
By Nigar Orujova
Greece does not eliminate the possibility of signing an agreement on customs cooperation with Azerbaijan in the future, Head of the International Relations Department of the Greek Customs Administration Odysseas Pylalis told Trend Agency on November 26.
The meeting of the heads of the customs administrations of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) entitled "The customs services initiative on trade facilitation" was held in Baku.
Pylalis believes it is necessary to expand the customs cooperation between Greece and Azerbaijan as members of BSEC.
"We want to simplify our trade and economic relations with the BSEC member-states, especially with Azerbaijan, which is one of the most important countries in the region," he added.
He highlighted the good relations between Greece and Azerbaijan.
"We must continue improving customs cooperation between our countries,” he said. “We intend to develop works in the direction of customs modernization, expand information exchange and actively introduce information technologies, etc."
Pylalis went on to say that he intends to explore all opportunities in the country. “I think that in the future we will be able to conclude a bilateral agreement in the field of customs for the further development of our relations."
