Azerbaijan to offer online diagnosis
By Nigar Orujova
Azerbaijan, a country that is growingly counting on information technologies, will offer services of online diagnosis.
The electronic system for disease diagnosis will be launched as Doctormap project, implemented with the financial support of the State Fund for the Information Technology Development of Communications and High Technologies Ministry.
The State Fund has allocated 20,000 manats (about $25,500) for the project.
Project Manager of Doctormap Farid Farkhadov said the system is comparable with that of initial diagnosis by a doctor.
"Initial diagnosis will be possible on the page doctormap.az. The user of the system will just need to indicate his or her disturbing symptoms, then the system will automatically detect the medical specialist. The service will be available to citizens free of charge," he said.
Doctormap project is an active card which shows the locations of hospitals and doctors. The number of medical specialists on the site will be limited.
The main point is the selection of highly qualified specialists, the project manager stressed. Registration of the medical personnel in the system will be carried out on a fee basis.
"The long-term plans include the launch of the module ‘Online pharmacy’. Its important feature is to simplify finding the right medication at all pharmacies represented in the database. The user can compare prices together. The delivery service will also be available soon," Farkhadov added.
The online diagnosis will help the population to select a medical institution for treatment as well as find relevant doctor. The system also includes information about the medical personnel registered at the website, as well as their certificates.
