Azerbaijani envoy presents credentials to Queen Elizabeth II

Azerbaijani Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Tahir Taghizade has handed over his credentials to Queen Elizabeth II.

Taghizade conveyed greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to Queen Elizabeth II,AzerTag state news agency reported.

The diplomat said relations between the two countries had been developing, noting that he would spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening the Azerbaijan-UK ties during his tenure.

Queen Elizabeth II asked the envoy to pass on her greetings to President Aliyev, and expressed confidence that built on a strong foundation, dynamic partnership between the two countries would continue to develop.

Following the ceremony at the Buckingham Palace, a reception was arranged at the Azerbaijan embassy in the UK to mark the occasion.

The event brought together ambassadors of foreign countries accredited in London, members of the House of Lords, the official of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the UK and public figures.

Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps Alistair Harrison wished Taghizade success in his activities, and expressed confidence that bilateral bonds between the two countries would continue to develop.

Taghizade said the UK and Azerbaijan were reliable partners.

He noted that there was ample potential for deepening bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, education, healthcare, finance, banking, tourism and information technologies.
