Azerbaijan, Norway hail energy cooperation
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met newly appointed ambassador of Norway to the country Bard Ivar Svendsen on September 2.
Svendsen replaced Erling Skjønsberg in his new position.
The sides praised development of relations between the two countries, particularly energy cooperation, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Mammadyarov congratulated the diplomat on his new appointment, and wished him success in his activities.
Svendsen, in turn, said he would spare no efforts to contribute to expanding bilateral ties between the two countries even further.
They stressed the importance of development of the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and Norway.
Since the beginning of the 1990s Azerbaijan and Norway have developed an increasingly strong relationship. Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on June 5, 1992. The Norwegian embassy in Baku was opened in June 1998.
The co-operation has been growing especially in the field of energy, and several Norwegian companies have established themselves in Baku.
