Aztelekom to install more payphones in Defense Ministry units
By Sara Rajabova
Aztelekom Production Association under the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan has launched a project to install payphone in the Defense Ministry's units.
The project is being implemented jointly by the Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry. The state operator will also offer certain cards for using the payphones.
"The ongoing project has given some impetus to the payphone communication in Azerbaijan. At present, the total number of payphones in Aztelekom network is over 100," Aztelekom said.
The state operator reduced the number of payphones in its network more than one-third in 2011 due to their reduced profitability. One of the reasons behind the profitability reduction was the high level of mobile communication penetration and teledensity of population in Azerbaijan.
Nevertheless, the industrial association is ready to resume work on installing payphones if the demands get higher.
