Solar powered traffic signs appearing in Baku
By Jamila Babayeva
The installation process of solar powered traffic signs is underway in Baku.
"The first solar powered crosswalk sign has been installed on Huseyn Javid avenue in Sabayel district," the Interior Ministry's Central Traffic Police Department reported.
The main advantage of the modern traffic signs is its better visibility during the day and at night and in cloudy weather. Furthermore, such technology does not require the cost of installing electric cables and the electricity payment.
The solar panels will generate electricity through a battery that will highlight the LED lights installed around the perimeter of the sign. The ordinary traffic signs installed in Azerbaijan are covered with colors with small glass beads that reflect headlights.
The solar powered traffic signs are first installed in the most crowded and irregular pedestrian crossing (zebra), and further throughout Baku.
