Tunis seeks to expand comprehensive cooperation with Azerbaijan:  President

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Morocco Tarik Aliyev, who was concurrently appointed as an ambassador to Tunisia, has handed over his credentials to Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki.

The president congratulated Aliyev on his appointment and expressed confidence that he would contribute to expanding cooperation between the two countries during his tenure, AzerTag state news agency reported.

Marzouki noted that Tunis was interested in expanding comprehensive cooperation with Azerbaijan.

He lauded great tourism potential of Tunis and stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries in this field.

Aliyev, for his part, also noted that he attaches great importance to development of bilateral bonds between Azerbaijan and Tunis.

He said there was great potential for expanding cooperation.

Aliyev expressed confidence that joint efforts would be stepped up to enhance bilateral ties between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, education, and other fields.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Tunisia were established on July 1, 1998.
