Traffic movement will be limited on several Baku streets and
roads due to holiday celebrations, Baku State Traffic Police
reported.
The movement of vehicles from 14th km of the Baku-Astara highway
towards the Bayil settlement and central streets of the city, from
the intersection of Yusif Safarov and Afiyaddin Jalilov streets to
Javanshir bridge and Uzeyir Hajibeyli street towards Azadlig
avenue, Zarifa Aliyeva, Rasul Rza, and Azneft square, and from the
crossroad of Mikayil Mushvig street and third ring highway (next to
car mall) in the direction of Parliament avenue and Badamdar
settlement will be completely limited from 6 p.m. on December
31.
Traffic will also change along the National Seaside Park on
Neftchiler Avenue and the streets that cross it.
The purpose of the imposed limits is to provide safety for people
who want to attend holiday events at the boulevard, and prevent
heavy traffic and accidents.
The police urge people to reduce using personal transports during
the holiday.
Spokesman for the Central State Traffic Police Department of the Interior Ministry Kamran Aliyev said the traffic police will have an intensified work schedule from December 31 to January 7.
"The personnel of the Traffic Police will monitor traffic in Baku and other cities and regions, as well as the country's main roads. Drivers and pedestrians who violate traffic rules will be punished," he said.
Aliyev urged drivers to be careful on the roads and obey traffic rules.
"During holidays, the number of people traveling to regions and coming to the city increases. Therefore, traffic on regional roads will increase even more. In order to avoid serious accidents during these days, we once again urge drivers to be careful, not exceed the speed limit, carefully observe the rules of overtaking, and fasten seat belts," he added.
