Telecommunication services price reduced in Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijan Tariff Council decided to reduce the cost of telecommunication services, international and long distance calls, and use of fax machines.

Implemented by January 1, 2014, the decision was made at a meeting on December 2.

The tariff for installing phone lines will be reduced from 40-120 manats ($50-$152) to 30 manats ($38), international calls will cost 0.32 manats ($0.40) regardless of the zone, and call charges are 0.36 manats ($0.45), 0.45 manats ($0.57) and 0.54 manats ($0.68) per minute depending on the zone, the council reported.

The fee for long distance calls per minute has been reduced from 0.07 manats ($0.08) to 0.05 manats ($0.06), and the cost of using a fax machine will be reduced from the current 0.8 manats ($1) to 0.5 manats ($0.6).

The price of using the service "107" for intercity calls in villages remains 0.05 manats ($0.06) and in cities and regional centers is reduced by half, amounting to 0,10 manats ($0.12).

The council also canceled the fee for transferring phone numbers from one name to another, releasing information on international and intercity calls, conducting technical maintenance of telephone every month, and selecting a telephone number.

The monthly rate for using a stationary telephone for population will rise to 2.50 manats ($3.1) from the current two manats ($2.5). A new tariff for budgetary and none-budgetary organizations is set at seven manats ($8.9). The tariff rate is currently three manats ($3.8) for budget organizations and seven manats ($8.9) for non-budget organizations.
