By Nazrin Gadimova
A new stage of the "Lend a helping hand to children in Africa" charity campaign began during Eid al-Adha in Azerbaijan at the initiative of the Eurasian Regional Center of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYF-DC), according to the Forum.
The main purpose of the campaign is to provide the population of African countries facing water shortages with water wells, it said.
Two water wells for Somali refugees densely settled in Kenya will be constructed at the expense of the funds raised as part of the charity campaign in Azerbaijan from July 10 to August 10, 2013.
The wells will provide with water a large number of people who have long suffered from shortages.
The first stage of the campaign was held in Azerbaijan during the holy month of Ramadan in 2011. Then, in the course of charity events, funds worth more than $80,000 were raised and spent to purchase food for the children of Africa.
