Orientalist Aida Imanguliyeva commemorated in Azerbaijan

Representatives of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs have visited the grave of prominent Azerbaijani Orientalist, PhD in Language Studies, Professor Aida Imanguliyeva.
Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, Professor Govhar Bakhshaliyeva spoke about the life and activity of Aida Imanguliyeva.
According to Bakhshaliyeva, Imanguliyeva conducted a lot of research in the field of Arabic language studies and she was the first woman Orientalist and the first researcher of Arabic literature of the new period in Azerbaijan's Oriental studies.
The outstanding Orientalist graduated from the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Baku State University in 1962. In 1969 Imanguliyeva defended her doctoral thesis. During the Soviet times she was a member of the Presidium of the Society of Oriental Studies and the Coordinating Council for the Research of Oriental literature.
Imanguliyeva also spent many years teaching and she was one of the founders of a new course of Arabic literature in the Soviet Union and Azerbaijan. In her scientific and organizational activities Aida Imanguliyeva always paid special attention to the training of highly qualified Arabists.
She is the author of three books and more than 70 scientific articles, as well as the editor of many scientific works in Oriental philology.
