Baku traffic police warns of fining drivers who violate parking rules and leave their vehicles in places not designated for parking, in connection with the opening of an underground parking lot between Fizuli and Mirzaaga Aliyev streets (behind Heydar Aliyev Palace) in the center of the Azerbaijani capital, Baku State Traffic Police department head Vagif Asadov said on July 27.

According to Asadov, traffic police have already started to carry out raids.

"Cars left on the roadside in this area cause traffic jams," he said.

The mentioned underground parking, which opened on July 25, is designed for 4,500 cars, and also has a special sector for 37 cars. Car wash will be available at the facility as well. The total area of the three-storied parking lot is 21 hectares.

The parking lot is on the first and second floors, while the third one is a service area. Along with other facilities on the third floor, there are eight water tanks with a capacity of 1,200 cubic meters.

The underground parking is provided with modern equipment and systems. The most advanced ventilation systems, fire protection and security have been installed in the facility.

About 270 surveillance cameras have been installed to ensure the security and control over the parking lot. In addition, the outlets are separated with glazed partitions capable to withstand temperatures of up to 700 degrees.

Since Shamsi Badalbeyli Street stretches above the underground parking lot, this part was built based on the principle of a bridge.

The underground parking lot has 14 elevators. Seven underground passages have been built around the car park, where 24 escalators were set up. Eight elevators are operating for people with disabilities.

This complex has become one of the favorite places of recreation for residents and visitors.

According to unofficial information, the cost of an hour of parking costs 50 Gapiks (fractions of one manat), and 8-12 hour parking costs 2 manats.
