Qatar`s newspaper: Azerbaijan becomes key player in the region
Qatar`s daily newspaper The Peninsula has published an article on the results of the Second World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held in Baku from May 29 to June 1.
According to Azerbaijani embassy in Qatar, the author says that
the Forum was initiated by Azerbaijan and supported by UN Alliance
of Civilizations, UNESCO, Council of Europe, North-South Centre and
ISESCO.
Stressing the importance of the forum, the author says the event
was attended by heads of international organizations, current and
former presidents of several countries, ministers, experts, heads
of think tanks, scientists from more than 100 countries and high
representatives of centers for intercultural dialogue.
The author also informs the readers on Azerbaijan`s successive
policy, which was founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev and is
being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, adding
thanks to this policy the country faces overall development and its
international influence is growing.
The journalist notes thanks to its important strategic position and
economic development Azerbaijan became the key player in the
region. The author also touches upon Azerbaijan`s economic
successes, energy strategy and constructed oil and gas
pipelines.
The author hails Azerbaijan`s rapid development in a number of
fields, including agricultural, tourism and cultural ones.
Speaking on Armenia's policy of aggression, the author touched upon
President Ilham Aliyev`s efforts towards the settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and noted the international legal norms
don`t work in the settlement of the conflict.
The author mentions, Armenia ignores four resolutions adopted by
the UN Security Council, continues its occupation and infringes the
international legal norms.
The journalist says last year the most grandiose song contest
"Eurovision-2012" took place in Baku.
The author also hails the tolerance in Azerbaijan.
The Peninsula editor-in-chief Hussain Ahmad`s Baku trip was
supported by Azerbaijani embassy in Qatar.
