Over 800 UXOs found in March
Some 2.171 million square meters of Azerbaijani territory was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance in March, the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) said on Tuesday.
As a result of the efforts, 822 unexploded ammunitions, 15 antitank mines and 3 antipersonnel mines were found and neutralized.
484 experts and 118 assistants, as well as six demining machines and 36 mine detection sniffer dogs participated in the operations.
So far the agency has cleared 220.458 million square meters of land and neutralized 679,435 mines and unexploded ammunition.
Mine clearing operations continue in the territories of Agdam, Agstafa, Agjabadi, Fizuli, Barda and Tartar regions and in the areas adjacent to the Kirdag mud volcanoes in the Absheron region and in the Guzdek settlement in Garadagh district of Baku.
