Azerbaijani scientists attend Gulf seismic forum in Oman
A delegation of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Seismological Service Centre has participated in the 8th Gulf Seismic Forum in Muscat, Oman.
The forum held at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) brought together seismologists and experts from US, UK, Italy, Canada, Macedonia, Czechia, Turkey, Germany, Austria, South Africa, Yemen, Egypt and Australia.
The event featured discussion on the issues of seismology, earthquake engineering, seismic hazard mitigation and geophysical research in the Arabian Peninsula region.
The Azerbaijani delegation held a meeting with professor of US Massachusetts Institute of Technology Nafi Toksoz to discuss prospects for joint cooperation.
The ANAS scientists also met with Issa El Hussain, director of the Earthquake Monitoring Centre of Oman and invited him to visit Azerbaijan. They also exchanged views on organization of the next forum in Baku.
