Azerbaijani university's seminars benefit youth, businesspeople

Qafqaz University, a private university based in Azerbaijan's capital Baku, on Sunday successfully completed "Initiative" seminars organized for people working in various fields, including youth who work in the public sector and entrepreneurs engaged in the private sector.
All participants were awarded certificates at the end of the five-day seminars, which were organized by Qafqaz University's Technopark. Vice President of the Middle East Technical University's Technopark, Ufuk Batum, conducted the workshop.
The initiative to establish a technopark -- the first among Azerbaijani universities -- was discussed in September 2012 during a meeting of Azerbaijani Minister of Education Misir Mardanov, Qafqaz University Rector Ahmet Sanich, and Ufuk Batum.
Later, a group of Qafqaz University teachers visited Turkish universities to study the experience in the field of establishing a technopark.
Qafqaz University was founded in 1993. The education system and programs of Turkish and Western universities are taken as a model in preparing the curriculums. In doing so, the "credit system" was applied in Azerbaijan for the first time.
The University offers B.A, M.A., M.Sc., MBA and doctoral programs.
The main goal of the university is to provide students with higher education that meets international standards and to play an active role in fostering excellence, cooperation, and interaction with international academic milieu.
