President Aliyev opens new substations and administrative buildings of Bakıelektrikshabaka company

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev inaugurated new substations and administrative buildings of Bakıelektrikshabaka company on Thursday, AzerTac state news agency reported.

More than 606 million manats have been invested - under the President`s instructions - in modernizing capital Baku`s electricity supply system since 2006. Improvement work included the construction of twenty 110Kv substations.

The President first opened a 110/35/6Kv substation in Narimanov district. Chairman of Board of Bakıelektrikshabaka Baba Rzayev told the Head of State that the facility was built in 1974. The President viewed the control room, which is connected to Bakıelektrikshabaka`s Central Control System - SCADA. The President was told that the commissioning of the substation will mean a 12 per cent increase in power. The substation will play a key role in supplying electricity to Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery and other important industrial plants, and facilities, including Heydar Aliyev Center, Heydar Aliyev Avenue, State Oil Fund, State Oil Company, Gymnastics Federation, and Intellectual Transport Management Center.

The Head of State pushed the start button to put the facility into operation. Through a video conference President Ilham Aliyev watched the opening of 35Kv substations in Nasimi, Surakhani, Binagadi, and Sabail districts as well as administrative buildings of power supply departments in Khazar, Surakhani, Sabunchu, Garadagh and Yasamal districts and the office of the Department of Control.

The President then viewed a 110 Kv closed distribution facility, a new building of Bakıelektrikshabaka`s Education Center, and the Energy Sales Department.
