20 January tragedy`s anniversary to be marked in Kazakhstan

A series of events will be held in Astana and Almaty, Kazakhstan, to commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the 20 January tragedy, AzerTac state news agency reported.

Azerbaijani cultural centers functioning in various regions of the country will also host commemorative events

A ceremony, which will take place at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan, will feature a speech by Ambassador Zakir Hashimov, a documentary film and an exhibition narrating on the tragedy.

On January 19 and 20, a special program dedicated to this tragedy will be aired on the Kazakh State Radio.

The Public Union of Kazakhstan Azerbaijani Association, based in Almaty, will also hold a commemorative ceremony.

Almaty`s Vatan newspaper is expected to publish a wide range of materials related to the 20 January tragic events.
