Secretary General: Azerbaijan's GUAM chairmanship a great success
Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the GUAM - Organisation for Democracy and Economic Development was very successful, the organisation's Secretary General Valery Chechelashvili said,Trend news agency reported.
"Many important events have been held the last one being in Dublin, where a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers took place. The Azerbaijani chairmanship ended in New York on a very good note. A resolution was adopted by consensus on cooperation between the UN and GUAM, which strengthens our credibility, reputation and position in the system of international relations," Chechelashvili told journalists in Baku.
Azerbaijan presided over the organisation in 2012.
The GUAM Secretary General is in Baku to attend the fifth meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation. The meeting will discuss iprospects of future cooperation, Chechelashvili said.
GUAM is a regional organisation established in 1997 by Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova. Uzbekistan was a member of the organisation from 1999 to 2005.
