Azerbaijan, Texas state discuss coop prospects
Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament and chairman of the
Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology
Valeh Alasgarov has met Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan
Combs to discuss prospects for development of relations between
Azerbaijan and Texas State, AzerTac state news agency reported.
Alasgarov said that the Azerbaijan-US relations had moved into
level of strategic partnership.
"The trade turnover between the two countries has reached $1.8
billion. Azerbaijan has relations with different US states. We hope
that the cooperation with Texas will beneficial for both sides," he
said.
Alasgarov expressed his confidence that the partnership between
legislative bodies would contribute to expanding bilateral
relations.
Alasgarov said that the occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani
territories by Armenians was a real danger for the regional
security.
The sides stressed the importance of reciprocal visits.
The meeting also featured discussions on the interparliamentary
relations.
