Caspian ports looking at establishing passenger traffic

Caspian ports may consider the possibility of establishing passenger traffic in the future, a source at the Baku international seaport told Trend news agency on Thursday.
"In the future it is planned to consider the possibility of passenger traffic between the ports in case of demand," the source said.
He said this issue was also discussed during a joint meeting of the port administrations of the Caspian littoral states which was recently held.
The next meeting of the port administrations of the Caspian littoral states is scheduled to be held in Baku in 2013.
Earlier, the Iranian side planned to restore marine passenger traffic between the Iranian trading port of Anzali and Baku port. This passenger line operated for a long time, and in 1998, was temporarily closed. Despite the desire of the Iranian side, operations of the line have not been restored.
